Can we talk about this for a second??
My Hubs is on a business trip in the Midwest right now, and instead of going out for dinner on the company’s dime, he expensed the above groceries for dinner!
Lets see: crusty bread, bananas, Justin’s individual almond butter packets (!!!), apples, Clif Z-Bars, mixed nuts, almond milk… and he told me he even got himself a coconut water at the airport the other day!
A man after my own heart, as I would gladly devour everything in that picture 😉
At some point I’m going to have the Hubs do a little guest post, talking about how we’ve evolved our eating habits over the last few years. It’ll be fun to have a little man-perspective up in the healthy-living blogosphere!!
Questions for you:
Does your spouse eat the same way that you do? How much the same/different? If they eat similarly, did they start out that way or change with you?
Oh girl, he did well!! My fiance and I pretty much eat the same way. I’ve gotten him hooked on nut butters so now I just have to see if he’ll pick them up when he’s out on his own 😉
I know right? I love that he did– shows initiative haha. And it means he’s not sick of the type of food I make him, so he’ll get it on his own!
Greetings from the midwest! Love your blog—I see that he stopped at Hy-Vee-that’s a neighborhood store headquartered in my home state of Iowa. Yay!
Haha nice!! Ya, he’s in Cedar Rapids right now 🙂 Is it a sort of healthy grocery store, like Whole Foods?
It’s just a regular old grocery store, but most have a great organic/healthy section-which is probably where he bought most of that!! Iowa is finally getting a Whole Foods-the midwest is a great place, but it takes us a while to catch up!
lol! that’s one of the nice thing about living on the coast, that’s for sure– always getting the new things quickly!
You must be a great teacher in the area of healthy-foods!
My husband wouldn’t even think twice about heading over to McDonalds during a work trip…
haha thanks 🙂 I think he’s just gotten used to it + wants to watch his ‘figure’ haha.
Sounds like mr. healthy! But I’m sure it’s due to your wonderful training! 😉
Hubby and I are completely different in so many ways, especially when it comes to food! I will say that he HAS adapted to a few healthy habits since being married, like whole wheat bread and pasta, skim milk (when I was a cow milk drinker), ground turkey. So I will give him tons of kudos for that, there are something things I wish he’d break..(Dr. Pepper). Yay for healthy husbands and wonderful wives for training them! ;-D hehe
haha yay indeed! it definitely takes time, and we still don’t eat exactly alike (he doesn’t like kale, the horror!), but he’ll generally eat what I am eating!
I’d most certainly say I had better eating habits than my wife before we met. Not exclusively, mind you, I WAS a bachelor for a decade! But I knew more about nutrition and followed a healthier eating pattern. Then a funny thing happened…
As she started learning and eating better, I started eating poorly less often. I guess I didn’t want to get left behind. We still indulge in junky food plenty, but in this case the whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.
I agree about the ‘whole being greater than the sum of the parts’. I can definitely say that we eat much healthier because we support each other’s good choices and are on the same page with nutrition and diet. I can only imagine how much harder it would be for me to stick to hearty salads, etc if he was asking for burgers and fries.
